In short

Making stock, or printing on demand.

Stocksmith, called Craftybase until June 2026, is inventory and manufacturing software for makers. It tracks materials with multi-level recipes, works out your real cost of goods, keeps batch and lot records, and syncs stock quantities to Etsy, Shopify, Amazon, WooCommerce, Square, Faire, Wix and Squarespace. It does not create or edit listings, and it does not use AI.

Shop Pilot is for print-on-demand sellers on Etsy: it finds designs, makes the mockups, writes and posts the listings with AI, and sends each order to Alerio or Gelato, who print and ship it.

So they rarely compete. If you make products by hand from materials, Stocksmith is built for that. If a supplier prints your products, Shop Pilot is.

Something else on your mind? Ask us.

What happened to Craftybase?

It renamed itself Stocksmith in June 2026. Same team and product, a new name; craftybase.com now leads to stocksmith.io.

Is Shop Pilot a Craftybase alternative?

Only if you sell print-on-demand. Stocksmith tracks materials and stock for makers; Shop Pilot makes and posts Etsy listings and sends each order to a print supplier.

Does Stocksmith create Etsy listings?

No. It links to your listings to keep stock in sync, but titles, descriptions and photos are not handled. Shop Pilot writes and posts listings with AI.

Does Stocksmith send orders to suppliers?

No. It imports sales orders to deduct stock. Shop Pilot sends each Etsy order to your Alerio cart or Gelato account in one click.

Does Shop Pilot track materials?

Shop Pilot is built for print-on-demand: Alerio and Gelato print and ship each order. For handmade stock and materials, Stocksmith is the tool built for that.

Which is cheaper?

Stocksmith starts at $24 a month. Shop Pilot is one plan per shop from €49.00 a month. They do different jobs, so the right one depends on how you make your products.

Can I use both?

If you sell both handmade stock and print-on-demand, yes: Stocksmith for the stock, Shop Pilot for the print-on-demand listings and orders.

How was this comparison checked?
