Sooner or later every shop needs one change on many listings. A new phone comes out. A supplier raises prices. You find a better word for your titles. Doing it listing by listing can take hours and invites mistakes. Bulk editing does it in one go.
What Etsy's Listings Manager can bulk edit
According to Etsy's help page on bulk editing, the Editing options in the Listings Manager cover:
- titles, tags and descriptions
- prices
- custom options
- production partners
- renewal options
- the processing profile and shipping profiles
Prices have their own limit: domestic, US and global prices can be edited on up to 500 listings at once, as Etsy's page on domestic and global pricing explains.
Other actions on many listings
- Change section. Move listings into a shop section. A shop can have up to 20 sections, and each listing sits in one (Etsy's shop sections page).
- Renew. Renew several listings at once. Each renewal costs 0.20 USD for another four months (Etsy's renewing listings page).
- Deactivate or reactivate. Take listings off sale and bring them back (Etsy's deactivation page).
- Delete. Remove listings for good, so use it with care.
- Quick edit. Change titles, tags and SKUs (Etsy's quick edit page).
- AI title suggestions. Etsy's title suggestions can be applied to many listings at once (see Etsy's new guidance for listing titles).
What Etsy's tool can't do
- Upload new listings in bulk. Etsy has no bulk upload for new listings. You can copy an existing listing instead.
- Edit variations. Changing variations, such as adding a new phone model to every listing, is not among the bulk options Etsy lists. For a phone case shop, where every listing carries a list of phone models, that edit comes up each time new phones are released.
- Work across shops. Each Etsy shop needs its own Etsy account (Etsy's page on opening another shop), so one change across five shops means five rounds of editing.
How to bulk edit in Etsy's Listings Manager
- Decide the change first. Write down the exact old and new wording, or the exact price change.
- Open the Listings Manager and find the listings you want to change.
- Select them. Check that only the right listings are selected.
- Open Editing options and pick what to change: titles, tags, descriptions, prices, profiles and so on.
- Make the change and save.
- Spot-check a few listings on the live site. Etsy notes that edits can take up to a day to show in search (Etsy's search visibility page).
Tips for safe bulk edits
- Start small. Try the change on a handful of listings, check them, then do the rest.
- Watch the limits. Titles can be up to 140 characters (Etsy's help page on creating a listing), and tags up to 20 characters each, 13 per listing (Etsy's tags page). A find-and-replace can push a title over. Paste a title and its tags into the free Etsy tag checker to see what is too long, repeated or not allowed.
- Don't stuff titles. Etsy's current title advice is to avoid repeated words, so check that a bulk "add this phrase" edit doesn't repeat words already in the title. Read how to write Etsy titles and tags first.
- Know what stays put. The listing URL is set from the title when a listing is first published and doesn't change after (Etsy's SEO help page). Editing a listing is also free under Etsy's Fees & Payments Policy.
When a dedicated tool helps
Etsy's own tools cover the basics. A separate bulk edit tool is worth a look when your edits look like these:
- You sell phone cases and need to swap an old model for a new one inside the variations of every listing.
- You want to see the before and after of every listing before anything saves.
- You run more than one shop and want to edit them from one place.
How Shop Pilot's Bulk Edit works
Shop Pilot's Bulk Edit syncs a shop's live Etsy listings and works across the whole shop, with status tabs for active, draft, inactive, expired and sold out listings. You search by title, tag or listing ID and select as many as you need. Then you can:
- Edit titles and descriptions: find and replace a word, or give every selected listing the same text.
- Edit tags: add, remove or rename tags on many listings at once. Duplicates are skipped.
- Swap phone models: replace an old phone model with a new one on every listing that has it. Photos and prices stay as they are, and big phone model edits start with a few listings you can check on Etsy.
- Change prices: raise or lower them by a percent or an amount, or set one price for every variation.
- Do the rest: move listings to a shop section, set materials, turn auto-renew on or off, or deactivate them.
Nothing reaches Etsy unseen. The preview shows the exact before and after for every listing, including any title Etsy would cut short or tag it would reject, and price edits won't run until you have looked at it. Running several shops? Each one keeps its own Etsy connection in the same dashboard; see multiple Etsy shops. The 5-day free trial includes 10 bulk edits, with no card needed.
