How to schedule Etsy listings: drafts, apps and timing

Etsy lets you publish a listing now or save it as a draft. Here is how to get listings up on the days you choose anyway, and how to find out when your own shop should post.

Posting on a schedule helps in simple ways. New listings keep arriving in a busy week, you can prepare a batch in one sitting, and you can test whether timing matters for your buyers. The catch is that Etsy itself has no date to pick.

What Etsy's listing form offers

When you finish a listing, Etsy's form gives you two choices: Publish or Save as draft (see Etsy's help page on creating a listing). Etsy's official pages don't describe a way to pick a future date or time.

That leaves two ways to schedule. You can save drafts and publish them yourself on the day, or use an app that publishes your drafts later through Etsy's API.

Option 1: drafts you publish by hand

  1. Make the listing as usual: photos, title, tags, description, price and shipping.
  2. Choose Save as draft instead of Publish.
  3. Keep a simple plan of which draft goes up on which day.
  4. On the day, open the draft and publish it.

This costs nothing extra and keeps you in control. It also needs you to be there. Miss a day, and nothing goes up. It works for a few listings a week, and gets hard to keep up with when you list every day or run more than one shop.

Scheduling doesn't change Etsy's fees. Each listing costs 0.20 USD and lasts four months, whether or not it sells, under Etsy's Fees & Payments Policy. The full list is in Etsy fees in 2026.

Option 2: an app that publishes for you

Apps connected to your shop can publish a draft later through Etsy's API. If you compare scheduling apps, check these points:

  • Does it work with your computer off? A scheduler that runs on a server keeps posting while you sleep or travel. One that runs on your laptop stops when the laptop does.
  • Drafts or live? Drafts let you check each listing while you are new to a tool. Live posts make sense once you trust it.
  • How does it connect? A good app connects through Etsy's own permission page and never asks for your Etsy password. See which Etsy API permissions listing automation needs.
  • Can you see what went up? You want a clear view of what was posted today and what comes next.
  • Does it stop doubles? With batches, it is easy to post the same listing twice by mistake.

Does the time you post matter?

Etsy's guide to how search works and its search visibility page explain how search treats new listings:

  • New listings get a short boost in search. Renewed listings get a smaller one.
  • A new listing can take up to 48 hours to appear in search, and an edit up to a day.

Two things follow. First, the hour you press Publish is not always the hour shoppers first find the listing in search. Second, posting a few listings across the week, instead of all at once, spreads the new-listing boost across the week too.

Beyond that, no single best time fits every shop. Your buyers, products and time zones are your own, so the answer has to come from your own numbers.

How to find your shop's best time

  1. Pick two or three time slots to compare, such as a morning slot and an evening slot.
  2. Schedule similar listings in each slot: the same product, similar designs, similar prices.
  3. Keep everything else the same, and change one thing at a time.
  4. Give each round time, at least past the 48 hours a new listing can take to show in search.
  5. Compare views, favorites and orders for each slot.
  6. Repeat. One good week can be luck. A pattern across several rounds is worth acting on.

How Shop Pilot's Listing Scheduler works

Shop Pilot's Listing Scheduler adds the calendar that Etsy's form doesn't have. You plan listings on a calendar, and they go up on the days you pick, even with your computer off.

  • Drafts or live. A plan can leave drafts on Etsy for you to check, or post live.
  • The whole listing. Each scheduled listing is made like one you post now. The title, 13 tags and description are written with AI for the designs in it, and prices, shipping and variations come from the shop's setup. See Etsy listing automation.
  • No double listings. Folders that are already listed are marked, so the same listing doesn't go up twice by mistake.
  • Numbers for your test. Analytics shows revenue, orders, views and favorites for each shop: today, the last 7 or 30 days, or all time. Schedule similar listings at different times and see when your own shop gets the most traction.

Not sure whether to post live? Draft or live explains when each one makes sense. The free trial runs for 5 days with no card, and includes 10 listings a day, posted now or scheduled.

Questions about scheduling Etsy listings

Can you schedule a listing on Etsy itself?

Etsy's listing form offers Publish or Save as draft, and Etsy's official pages don't describe picking a future date. Sellers use drafts or an app instead.

Will a scheduled listing show in search right away?

Not always. Etsy says a new listing can take up to 48 hours to appear in search.

What is the best time to post on Etsy?

There is no number that fits every shop. Test similar listings at different times on your own shop and compare the results.

Does renewing a listing help as much as a new one?

Etsy says renewals get a smaller boost than new listings.
